18th US Africa Sister
Cities Conference
Dear friends and supporters,
It is with our sincere regret that the US African Sister
Cities Foundation and DC Dakar must cancel the upcoming
18th Annual Conference scheduled to be held in
Washington DC August 5-7, 2010.
Because of the continuing economic downturn, many of our
previous supporters are unable to participate this year.
We look forward to your support in future endeavors as
we continue to promote understanding and mutual respect
to the plight
of
people on the African continent.
On behalf of The Africa Society of
the National Summit on Africa, I
would like to extend our sincere
appreciation to each one of you for
your presence and participation in
making the premiere of “ Senegal:
The President’s Tour” a success.
We also understand that due to the
level of security, some of you might
have experienced some frustration
during the check-in process that is
uncharacteristic of our programs.
Having the Head of State from any
country mandates the highest level
of security which is something over
which we had no control.
We are proud of the impact our
programs have in changing the
misperceptions and images that
Americans have regarding the
continent of Africa. We know that “
Senegal: The President’s Tour” will
not only portray a dynamic and
progressive Senegal, but also
encourage tourism and enhance its
growing economy.
We enjoy providing you with quality
programming on Africa, such as the
film “Senegal: The President's
Tour”, and look forward to seeing
you soon at our next program.
We're sending you a sneak preview of
the film to send to your friends
which will be aired on Travel
Channel on Monday, April 5 at 7:00
p.m. EST.
Our
resolve has never been stronger, The
Africa Society is working tirelessly
to let America and the world know
that Africa Matters!
The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation has created a new
blog on Africa policy, and we invite you to
participate in it and share it with your
colleagues. Feel free to create your own posts and
start your own discussion thread rather than just
respond to existing posts. Keep in mind, this blog
is focused on solutions to African challenges.
Those who have web sites and can do so, we ask that
you create a link to this blog. Please let me know
if you can do so.
